How it all started

In 2017, we took a hiatus from our jobs to travel for the winter. We booked a 24 hour flight to Thailand and instantly fell in love with the scenery, the culture, and most importantly the food. We were sitting at the beach on a small island in Southern Thailand when we noticed a local man driving around with a frozen bubble tea cart attached to his motorbike. We waved the man down and ordered two coconut shakes with boba. That was my first time trying bubble tea and I was instantly hooked!

Bubble tea originated in Taiwan in the 1980’s and quickly became a staple across the Asian culture. It wasn’t until the late 2000’s when it made its way to the United States. Normally, it’s served as a liquid on ice with sweet and chewy tapioca boba on the bottom. However, because of the extreme temperatures of Thailand’s climate, they serve their bubble tea “Thai Style” as a frozen shake.

We became close friends with Keng, the local Boba Man, after having his drinks every single day for two months. We saw the potential of the frozen shake, a perfect twist to the traditional “bubble tea,” and knew it was something we had to bring back to the States. The following year we returned to Thailand to stock up on supplies and perfect our Boba craft with Keng. In 2018 we opened our first location at The Wrentham Outlets in Wrentham, Massachusetts.
